Day 4 - The storm

So on Day 3 after having made it through Atlanta without a problem.  I am in the Alabama welcome center and i here one of the hostesses talk about the storms coming through the next day, which would be today.  I had to enquire.  Low and behold the possibility of major thunderstorms with strong winds and even tornados.  We get to camp and the sun is shining as I mentioned in the blog i even pulled out the camera.

I now start thinking of what my mom would say about tornados always seem to go through mobile home parks and destroying them.  Even if a tornado does not come through the area there were predictions of winds up to 60 mph winds ahead of the storm and then severe thunderstorms behind that.  Any of which would not be fun while sitting in a travel trailer even if it is 33 ft long.

When we started looking for travel trailer we started small ones.  I started thinking suppose we got stuck in the travel trailer for 3 days we would kill each other.  This reminded me of that thought and how glad I was we got a larger travel trailer.

So we get up this morning it still has not started.  Of course, no internet at our site and t-mobile  went in and out.  Luckily we had TV to watch.  It turns out that the brunt of storm would come through between 8-12pm.  It turns out no tornado, hardly any wind and only a steady rain.  We left around 12:30 pm heading from Greenville, AL to Mobile.  We could see branches along the road but the highway.  I was surprised how little traffic.  By the time we start heading west on I10 the sun was out.  Thank heavens it was not as bad as they predicted.    Of course, this was the longest day of driving.

We pulled into the RV park at 8pm.  The owner meets at the gate and takes us to our site.  Of course it is a back in.  I have never had to back into a site.  Well the owner had roll the window down and proceeded to tell me exactly what to do.  He did not even ask.  I must of looked like I needed help.   He kept on explaining how my vehicle responded so much quicker than a truck.  He finally gets us in around 8:15pm.  By then Vic and I are totally exhausted.  So the blog had to wait.

2018 thus far I was expecting this year to be a whole lot better for me than what has happened.   The reason is because of the odd decade phenomenon, that I have noticed over the years.   In my 30 th decade of life I divorced from my first marriage – not a good thing.   In my 50 th decade of life I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.   So, this being an even decade I was not expecting any big life changing negative events. Day 13 - The River Road Trip, Take 1

This day began with me getting up in the morning 5:30am for sunrise pictures in Big Bend.  I went to Sotol Vista.  It looked like an interesting sunrise position, but the sun did not do much.  Below are a few pictures from there: Next on our agenda was to drive the river road in Big Bend Ranch State Park.  This is a drive on TX 170 from Lajitas to Presidio.  A couple of people, we have met on the way, highly recommended it. It runs along the Rio Grande through the mountains.  You may or may not know, Max is a bit spoiled.  When he goes for a car ride, he has to have the window open so he can stick his head out the window.  He does this even at 60 mph. When I get back from sunrise pictures, Vicki and I eat breakfast and prepare for the drive.  The plan was to go to Presidio, eat, grocery shop and return.  Of course we would stop on the way and I would take some pictures.  We take off around 11:30pm and get to the outskirts of Lajitas when Vicki gets a phone call which comes

The National Park tour. Day: -1

As many of you know Vicki and I have been planning a trip out west to visit some National Parks and visit friends and family on the way. We will be doing that starting tomorrow (April 1, 2017). We have spent the last few months getting ready for this trip, including buying a travel trailer. The current plan is to visit the following national parks: Big Bend National Park Grand Canyon National Park Arches National Park Canyon Lands National Park Bryce Canyon National Park Zion National Park Yellowstone National Park Grand Tetons National Park We have reservations at travel trailer parks from Apex all the way through the Grand Tetons. If I count right 22 different parks. We still do not know the plans for on the way back. We are both very nervous about the trip as we have never done travel trailers to this extent.
