Day 64: Onward to Gardiner, MT
Saturday, June 3, 2017
Today we pack up and go to Gardiner, MT. We get to see how the experts do it. We travel north through Yellowstone, through Mammoth Hot Springs and onward to Gardiner. When we get there David and Susan head off to their RV park and we go to our motel.
Actually, the place we stay is rented as a vacation home. I think this is the ultimate way for a person to run a place out. We are actually in an old motel. It looks just like on except everything has been converted (i.e. the office) to living space. We have a one room place with a full size bed and one set of bunk beds. A table for eating or working. They don't have to have any personnel at the premise.
We go and have lunch at Iron Horse Bar and Grill.
We take an afternoon-evening ride into Lamar Valley and then to Cooke City in the North East corner of Yellowstone and then we head back to Gardiner.
Mountain goats: they are not native to Yellowstone. This reminds me of when I was in Alaska, one of the guides would say, "You see that white dot up there on the mountain, thats a dall sheep." I could not even see these without the camera.
We eat dinner in Cooke City. We were at the because was thinking staying up here after Gardiner. He found out the RV park was still closed. On the way into the city I see a bar that looks like it says "Hoosiers". So after dinner I walk down the street and this is what I saw.
For those of who do not know, I am from the hoosier state.
On the way back from dinner we see a car jam. It turns out a couple of male moose are grazing.
