Day 33: Bye bye Arizona

Today we left Page, Arizona for Moab, Utah, which has Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.  We spent 15 days in Arizona, most of which was not living in UTT.  We stayed with Vicki's brother Denny and sister-in-law Mirveta for around a week and then in the Grand Canyon hotel for about 5 nights.  The weather was basically hot, except the Grand Canyon.  Of course anyone who lives in AZ will tell that this is not hot.  And I believe them, but it is hot to us.  The temperature would be in the upper 80s to upper 90s.

I was hoping to maintain my fitness, which has not happened.  Maybe I can get back on track in Utah.

On the way to Moab we stopped at Mexican Hat, Utah and I got these pictures:

We make it to Mission Trail RV Park without much problem

Mission Trail RV Park

Moab is set amongst beautiful mountains. If an activity involves the outdoors, you can probably do it in and around Moab. Camping, hiking, river rafting, rock climbing, ATV, OTV trails, biking, etc., etc., etc.

Breaking camp usually takes 1-2 hours and setting up camp the same time.  I think it should be faster but it never is.  The good news is the hitch came off quicker.  After setting up camp we find out there is a tree on our slot but it is on the morning side.  We get a direct hit from the afternoon sun.  Guess what, it is hot here also.  So much for a break in the temperature.

The really bad news is that Arches National Park is closed every night from 7pm to 7am Sunday to Thursday because they are redoing the roads. So this gives me two nights and two mornings to stay for sunset and be there for sunrise.  It took me a while to recover from this news.  We stayed in Moab for it's proximity to Arches.  It just goes to show you; it is always something.

Vicki just felt like relaxing this evening so I did also.  Well kind of, it turns out the RV park has a nice view of the La Sal Mountains and wanted to take some nice sunset pictures.  So, I walk down to the front of the park to take some pictures of the setting sun hitting the mountains.  As I round the corner I meet a very nice couple from Canada.  The lady, Mary, says are you here for the symposium.  I must have had a blank look on my face but I finally said what symposium.  She went on to explain it was a multi-day symposium in downtown Moab about photography.  She gave me all the information and I finally decided not to go, because I was here to take pictures :).  Her husband's name is Neil.  We talked for a while longer and Vicki showed up.  We continually meet the nicest people at campgrounds.

While we were talking to Mary and Neil, I was taking sunset pictures:
