Day 46: Pine Creek switchback
Tuesday, May 16, 2017
I get up to go to the Pine Creek switchback for reflection shots. I get there early enough to find a nice reflection. I am a bit disappointed that some of the rocks in the creek are showing.
I go from there back through the tunnel and to the Checkerboard mesa. This is a mesa that looks like a checkerboard.
As I turn and look behind me from the previous picture, I see a bunch of animals resting on the side of mesa. They are Desert Big Horn Sheep. How lucky can you be? These animals are very hard to find evidently and I happen upon a herd.
On the way back home took some more pictures of the mesas with different patterns. They did not come out as I hoped. I am still trying to figure out how to take the pictures such that the patterns really stand out.
I decide to get some exercise today by hiking Angel's Landing Trail up to Scout lookout. I don't think I made it there but had a good hike.
For sunset I decide to take pictures from the Big Bend stop. It is supposed to have some really nice views.

This one is laying like my dog might lay. |
It looks like this one is about to head butt the sheep in front of it. However, it is just stretching and eventually lays back down. |
This is a picture of the herd. They are so spread out it is hard to get a good picture of them all. Notice how they are all looking different directions. I don't think that is a coincidence. |

Virgin river from bridge crossing it. |
The sun was not really doing much, so I moved to mule deer. Or as my wife likes to call them deer mule. The deer lose their antlers yearly and begin growing them back this time of the year. |
